Whitby is arguably the Fish and Chips capital of England. A historic town with an Abbey which is famous for where the dates of Easter were set by the Synod of Whitby in 664, as well as the abode of count Dracular when he arrived by ship in England. The Dracular story means that 2 or 3 times a year Whitby becomes home to Goths dressed in vampire apparel of Victorian clothing. On 26 August 1768 James Cook sailed HMS Endeavour out of Whitby harbour. Photos by Paul E Williams.
